Technical Tip: Modify replacement message for token received by email and examples
Description
This article describes how to modify the replacement message when a token is received via email.
Scope
FortiAuthenticator.
Solution
This can be followed when there are no portals configured on the FortiAuthenticator.
For example:
- The login page for the FortiAuthenticator needs modification.
- Password reset page needs modification.
- The token received by email needs modification in terms of text.
- More details can be seen by navigating to System -> Administration -> Replacement Messages, as needed.
Scenario 1:
In this example, the token sent via email consists of both a username and token.
Requirement: This needs to be modified to only contain the token being sent to the email directly .

Steps followed: Remove the line for the username defined.

Scenario 2:
Requirement: Similarly, for the 'New User Email Message (via admin site), with expiring password' email, the 'password' field needs to be removed.

Steps followed: The 'password' is removed.

The approach will be the same for any scenario for messages listed under System -> Administration -> Replacement Messages.
Note:
If the authentication is being completed by any portal, the replacement messages need to be tweaked under Authentication -> Portals -> Replacement messages by editing the portal created.
For example: modification is needed for a Portal named 'Sponsor group' which has been manually created. To do this, navigate to Authentication -> Portals -> Replacement Messages -> edit portal 'Sponsor group'.
