Description This article discusses IPv6 support with FortiAuthenticator.
Scope FortiAuthenticator.
Solution

FortiAuthenticator has only limited support with IPv6. It does not support incoming communication over IPv6 for most of its features.

For example, it does not support Radius communication over IPv6.

Currently supported features with IPv6 support on the FortiAuthenticator are:

  • Admin GUI access over IPv6.
  • FSSO: Extract end-user IPv6 addresses from Syslog messages (received over IPv4).
  • FSSO: Extract end-user IPv6 addresses from RADIUS accounting messages (received over IPv4).
  • FSSO: Extract end-user IPv6 addresses from Windows event logs polling.
  • FSSO: Create active end-user sessions for IPv6 addresses and send them to FortiGates.

Additionally, FortiAuthenticator supports IPv6 in its IP routing capabilities, including the configuration of static routes for IPv6 networks
