Technical Tip: Increase FortiToken mobile provisioning activation timeout

Description


This article describes increasing the activation timeout for FortiToken mobile provisioning.

 

Scope

 

FortiAuthenticator.

Solution

 

  • By default, when a user is provisioned with FortiToken Mobile, the default timeout value before the user has to activate FortiToken Mobile in the FortiToken App is 1 hour.
  • To increase the activation timeout, the following can be set:

From GUI:  System –> Administration –> FortiGuard –> FortiToken Mobile Provisioning –> Activation Timeout:

Note:

Starting from v6.6.1, the settings have been shifted to Authentication -> User Account Policies -> Tokens -> Activation timeout:

  • The activation timeout can be set from 1 to 168 hours.
  • The change can be verified under Logging -> Log Access -> Logs as well.

Starting from FortiAuthenticator v6.4.2, the maximum activation timeout can be set to 30 days.

If the user does not register FortiToken Mobile within the Activation timeout, the user will be disabled, and FortiToken Mobile will be returned to the pool of available FortiToken Mobile tokens.
