Technical Note: FortiAuthenticator administrator dropdown menu
Description
This article provides details on the FortiAuthenticator administrator dropdown menu.
Scope
FortiAuthenticator.
Solution
FortiAuthenticator has a drop-down menu with a few easily accessible actions, such as upgrading, taking a backup, or logging out of the GUI.
This menu is located in the upper right corner of the GUI and accessible by clicking on the administrator name.

It contains the following options:
- Upgrade.
This button directs to the upload page for firmware, the same as System -> Administration -> Firmware Upgrade. More details can be found in Upgrading the firmware - FortiAuthenticator administration guide.
- Restore/Backup.
This button leads to the configuration backup/restore page, which is NOT accessible any other way. More details on the backup/restore process are available in System Information Widget - FortiAuthenticator administration guide, under the step entitled 'Backing up and restoring the configuration'.
- Reboot.
This button directs to a reboot page; a reason for the reboot needs to be logged first. Selecting 'OK' here will trigger the reboot.

After confirming this, the FortiAuthenticator tab will display a 'Reboot process has started. One will be redirected to the login page once the system is ready. Please wait...' message. After the reboot has completed and the unit is accessible again, the login screen will display again.
- Shutdown.
This button directs to a shutdown page; a reason for the shutdown needs to be logged first, as with the reboot. After selecting 'OK' to trigger the shutdown, the unit will shut down, and will need to be powered on manually.

- Logout.
This button triggers an admin logout, and redirects back to the login screen.
