Technical Tip: FortiAppSec Advanced Bot Protection License Registration Issues

Description

This article describes registration issues related to the FortiAppSec Advanced Bot Protection (ABP) service and the FortiWeb Web Application Firewall.

Scope

FortiWeb v8.0.4 and v7.6.x.

FortiAppSec Advanced Bot Protection (ABP) service.

Solution

When purchasing FortiWeb appliances with the Enterprise Bundle and/or using the Add-on SKU 'Advanced Bot Protection for HW/VM', user accounts are allocated a certain number of requests for analysis by the ABP service.

As of FortiWeb v8.0.4 and v7.6. Several issues have been identified with the conversion of license seats to the number of ABP requests allocated to accounts. Depending on the type of license, different conversion methods are used, leading to inconsistencies in the number of allocated ABP queries. These issues are planned to be addressed in FortiWeb v8.0.6.

For existing users affected by this issue, Fortinet will manually update the overall query count until the fix is available.
