Troubleshooting Tip: Bridge mode SSID needs to be added manually

This article describes how to map bridge mode SSID to FortiAP profile.

 

Scope

 

FortiGate, FortiAP.

 

Solution


Once the SSID is created on the FortiGate, by default only the tunnel mode SSIDs will be enabled on the FortiAPs.
To enable and make the FortiAP broadcast any bridge mode SSID, the SSID option on the FortiAP profile needs to be set to manual, and an already created bridge mode SSID has to be added.

Along with the bridge mode, adding the other tunnel mode SSIDs is necessary which are required for the respective profile, since the SSID option is set to manual.

Find the below steps:
From GUI.

Go to Wi-Fi & Switch Controller -> FortiAP Profiles -> SSIDs, then select manual, and add the already configured SSIDs as shown in the below screenshot.

 
From the CLI:
 
 
Similar to the radio-2, the SSID needs to be manually added to the FortiAP profile.
 
The above is valid if running FortiGate on v5.x and below.
