Technical Tip: TinyTerm app hang issue on Zebra Scanner

Description

 

This article describes the steps to address a TinyTerm app issue when accessed through Zebra Sensor.

 

A TinyTerm app installed on Zebra TC21 and TC22 scanners connected to FortiAP freezes intermittently and eventually recovers on its own. When it freezes, it does not take the new scan. It continue to be frozen. User needs to go to selection screen and select the same session and then the connection comes back. Sometimes this also does not work, it remains frozen.
When the issue happens, it throws error 103 on the Tiny Term application which means network error.

Solution

 

The following setting can be configured to improve connectivity between the TinyTerm app and Zebra Server. As shown in the last image (UNIX Emulation Configuration) below, the 'Auto Connect' and 'Auto Reconnect' options need to be enabled to address the issue. These settings are available in Zebra Scanner.
