Technical Tip: How to resolve the error of 'client-leave-wtp' which cause Wifi connection unstable
| Description | This article describes the way to resolve the error of 'client-leave-wtp'. |
| Scope | FortiAP, FortiGate. |
| Solution | WTP (Wireless Termination Point), which is a component of the wireless network infrastructure that connects wireless clients to the network. It is managed by a wireless controller, such as a FortiGate or FortiAP.
The above event indicates that a client device has disconnected from the WTP. This could be due to various reasons, such as the client moving out of range, manual disconnection, or network issues.

This improves the Wifi connection behavior and performance by sending management, broadcast, and multicast frames at a higher rate. To be effective, this adjustment must be done on all SSIDs broadcast on the same FortiAP and in all FortiAP devices in the same coverage area. Also, be careful to match the lowest basic rate and multicast-rate values to avoid FortiAP radio fallback on the lowest possible transmit rates (1 Mbps for 802.11b frames and 6 Mbps for 802.11a frames).
Caution: Be advised that some older devices, like ones only supporting 802.11b, can no longer be used due to all supported b rates will be disabled.
This configuration will logically shorten cell coverage and may reveal areas with insufficient coverage. A Wi-Fi survey is highly recommended when using this adjustment to determine if a FortiAP placement change or the addition of more devices is necessary.
