Description

This article describes how to reset the FortiAP configuration to default when it is necessary to clean up any FortiAP settings.

Scope

FortiAP.

Solution

The FortiAP configuration can be reset to the initial factory default settings by using the 'cfg -x' command without the need to reboot. After the reset it is possible to verify the configuration has been cleared.

# cfg -x
May 24 12:41:49 passwd[595]: password for `admin' changed by user `admin'
kill: Could not kill pid '571': No such process

# cfg -s
AP_IPADDR:=192.168.1.2
AP_NETMASK:=255.255.255.0
IPGW:=192.168.1.1
ADDR_MODE:=DHCP
TELNET_ALLOW:=0
AC_DISCOVERY_TYPE:=0
AC_IPADDR_1:=192.168.1.1
AC_CTL_PORT:=5246
AC_DISCOVERY_MC_ADDR:=224.0.1.140
AC_DISCOVERY_DHCP_OPTION_CODE:=138

If the admin password has been lost, it is not possible to reset only the admin password. It will be necessary to reset the entire configuration to the initial factory default settings or reload the firmware.
