Description This article describes the steps to troubleshoot and resolve RX errors on a FortiAnalyzer interface. The errors are steadily increasing over time and are not related to bandwidth utilization.

Solution

To troubleshoot RX errors on a FortiAnalyzer interface, follow these steps:

  1. Run the command diagnose fmnetwork interface detail <port> to check the interface details.

  1. Check the optic levels and stats on the interface to ensure they are normal.
  2. Verify the MTU settings on the connected switch port and the FortiAnalyzer port to ensure they match. In this case, the switch MTU was set to 9216, while the FortiAnalyzer MTU was set to 1500.
  3. Check for jumbo frames on the switch and ensure they are not causing the RX errors on the FortiAnalyzer.
  4. Adjust the MTU settings as needed to resolve the issue.

 

In this scenario, the issue was resolved by adjusting the MTU settings on the FortiAnalyzer to match the switch MTU.
