Troubleshooting Tip: Logs are not displayed in FortiGate log view when FortiAnalyzer is set as the source

Description

This article describes the issue where logs are not being displayed in the FortiGate log view when FortiAnalyzer is set as the source.

Scope

FortiAnalyzer, FortiGate.

Solution

When FortiAnalyzer is running in v7.4.11, it does not respond to FortiGate log queries. As a result, logs are not displayed in FortiGate log view when FortiAnalyzer is set as the source. (whereas if the source is set to memory, logs are displayed).

This issue may only affect the FortiGates that are a part of the HA cluster. However, the log receiving is not affected on the FortiAnalyzer side itself. They can still be viewed on FortiAnalyzer under LogView.

FortiGate in standalone mode is not affected, and logs are displayed as usual (when source = FortiAnalyzer).

This issue is fixed in FortiAnalyzer version 7.6.4 or above. Refer to the upgrade guide to check compatibility and the recommended release for FortiAnalyzer before planning upgrade activity (See the related articles section).

For the v7.4 branch: The fix for this issue is scheduled in v7.4.12.

    Hi,

do you have any timeline on when FortiOS 7.4.12 will be available?

We are currently experiencing an issue where we no longer see logs in FortiAnalyzer (FAZ) for FortiGates that are part of an HA cluster. This is significantly impacting our daily operations, as we rely heavily on these logs.

As a temporary workaround, it seems that a downgrade of FortiAnalyzer restores log visibility, but obviously this is not a sustainable solution.

Would appreciate any insights or updates on this.

    Thanks in advance!
