Description

When adding a device to FortiAnalyzer, the error "The device's serial number does not match database" appears.

Scope

Solution

A - Added device is a FortiGate

If the device being added is a FortiGate, the most likely reason is that the model of FortiGate is not supported in this version of FortiAnalyzer.

To confirm, either

1) check the FortiAnalyzer Release Notes for the relevant firmware level on your FortiAnalyzer.

or

2) run the following command from the FortiAnalyzer CLI (FortiAnalyzer 5.4 or later)

 diagnose dvm supported-platforms list

B - Added device is not a FortiGate

For all other products other than FortiGate, ADOMs must be enabled on the FortiAnalyzer in order to add the device and start receiving logs.

ADOMs can be enabled from the Dashboard of the FortiAnalyzer:

FortiAnalyzer 5.2

System Settings -> Dashboard -> System Information Widget -> Administrative Domain -> Click on “Enabled”

FortiAnalyzer 5.4 or 5.6

System Settings -> Dashboard -> System Information Widget -> Administrative Domain -> Click on “On”
