Technical Tip: How to register upgrade license into existing entitlement in FortiCare

Description


This article describes how to add an upgrade license into FortiCare for an existing entitlement for FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer virtual machine e.g. VM64, KVM, HV.
For example, when an upgrade license is purchased for 5 GB/Day and 3 TB storage quota capacities on existing FortiAnalyzer VM base license or, an upgrade license for 10 units/domains on existing FortiManager VM base license.

Solution


1) Login into support portal https://support.fortinet.com/ with the support account credential.
2) On the top menu, select Asset -> Register/Activate.
3) Key-in the upgrade Registration Code.
4) In End User Type, select 'The product will be used by a non-government user' if the organization is non-government, else, select as government user, and then select 'next'.
5) Select the existing registered FortiAnalyzer or FortiManager e.g. FAZ-VMTM20009999.
6) Complete the registration.
7) Re-download the license file.
8 )Re-upload into the FortiAnalyzer or FortiManager to reboot.
a. Go to System Settings.

b. In the License Information widget, select the "Upload License" icon next to "VM License".

c. Select license file either by "Drag and Drop" or by Browsing to that file.

9) Check again the upgrade license after the license re-upload reboot under System Settings -> License Information.
