Description

This article describes how to use another VDOM other than the root for the FortiGuard update (including license verification).

Scope

FortiADC and FortiADC VM.

Solution

The FortiADC FortiGuard update including license verification will use the vdom root for Internet access to communicate with the FortiGuard servers.

For this article example, VDOM root has no Internet connection, but VDOM vd1 has Internet connection.
The FortiADC VDOM-link feature will be used as workaround for Internet connection for VDOM root.

STEP 1: Create VDOM Link Interface for VDOM root and VDOM vd1 at Global -> Network -> Interface.

STEP 2: Create a static route for VDOM root to VDOM vd1 at root -> Network -> Routing -> Static tab.

STEP 3: (Optional) If required, create a NAT rule for the connection to the Internet at vd1 -> Network -> NAT -> Source tab.

STEP 4: Verify the FortiGuard and license status at Global -> System -> FortiGuard.
