Technical Tip: How to configure FortiADC automation stitch to send alert email for Server Load Balance Virtual Server and Real Server Health Check Down

Prerequisite:

• Mail Server is configured in FortiADC system settings.
• Alert Email action is created in FortiADC Automation Stitch.
• Real Server pool configured with health check monitoring.

FortiADC Automation Stitches can be configured to send out Alert Email when a Real Server Pool fails the health check monitoring.

1. In the FortiADC, navigate to the Automation Stitches page. Create a new Automation Stitch with the System Events trigger. Select Apply to All will trigger the alert email if any of the Real Server Pools failed the health check monitoring. Select VS or Real Server will trigger the alert email only if the specific virtual server or real server pool fails the health check monitoring.

2. In the Event column, look for Real Server HC Down and Real Server HC Up. The event is pre-defined in the FortiADC which the Automation stitch will be triggered if the real server health check failed or resumed service.

3. In the automation stitch, select the Email as the automation stitch action. Insert the name and select the configured email action which defines the email sender and recipient address.

4. If the specific Real Server fails the health check monitoring, the event log shall contain the alert log.

5. With the email alert automation stitch configured, the same alert log shall be sending the Real Server Down alert email to the specified recipient.
